Happy Birthday thread, from me too!

Isn't it always about picking someone up, or is this thread now hopelessly off topic?

We open this seasons episode with:

Hi !  I don't sing, and I don't go to bars..   Oh yeah,  and I don't "get any" either.

I've said it over and over again,  you vocalists have learned technique on one of the toughest instruments to tune.  By the time the sound has been made, it's already too late to tune the instrument.   Vocalists (whether karaoke or front singers) if decent ARE good musicians. CCindy was explaining (or was it another person) that it's quite common for instrument players (for some reason) to have a tough time learning to sing later on, it's an entirely different process when you sing, as opposed to getting a sound out've an instrument.  Not sure why playing an instrument can complicate learning to sing but it's probably got something to do with the fact that our voice sounds very different to us, then it does to others EVEN when we listen on tape..   I try to sing, I really do.... but MY GOD...  the result is worse than my yankee talking accent !

At least they don't throw a net over you and shoot you with a tranq gun prior to picking you up Jian

OK,  I just recalled something about the differences between singing vs playing a musical instrument..

Physiologically, with the emphasis I suppose on psychologically our singing voice is an aspect of inner expression.  We are letting something out, exposing a part of ourselves..  A musical instrument is external, and involves less self-exposure,  while some of we musicians can play a guitar and feel almost hidden behind it, the vocalist is exposing themselves....  HEHEHEHE...  actually perhaps I should try to sing

and one other thing...  Singing is like playing a brass or woodwind instrument, you get winded, and breathing and phrasing can get tough.  It involves A LOT of the body, and has it's own technique unlike other musical instruments..

OK,  time to go,  need to leave some room in here for the women to gab too LOL

Murray,

I think Neil still has the Sequin shirts,  They can be found back in the 1960's and come with the dazzling foof-style dew !

Dang,  you got me getting all teary-eyed with reminiscent stuff now !

OK,   Keep in mind this was 1973 (or was it 2003) years back in those days sort've run together.. :drinklaugh:  :headscratch:

Speaking of "foof" dews

<Nah, forget it,  I can't do this,  too self-deprecating for even me> :(

OK OK,  stop flooding my mailbox with PM's everybody,  I'll post this photo

<damn,  am I going to hate myself in the morning for this.  Even I seldom stoop to
 such self-denigrading lows>

I'll post this,  and I'm running away FOREVER !!!!!!

This is 1975,  and it makes Neil's hair-dew look like a crew-cut...

I can't believe I allowed myself to look this God-awful weird in 1975..  Can you believe the shirt lapel wasn't tucked in ?   LMAO

Oh yeah,  also note the dorm-room wall look too !    This was over 30 years ago... The band in the poster was pretty good too !  Anyway,  they tell me this was me,  I don't recall being in the photo, of course there's very little about that decade I can recall.

Damn Neil,  he used to hound me.  All I'd hear is "Oh Kappy,  where'd you get that groovy foof-dew",  finally I gave him the name of my hair-stylist over at "Snip & Dip"..

(It was a subsidiary of "The perfect poodle coiffeur")

Oh yeah,  That white suspended flask was the IV drip for my Southern Comfort !

ROFLAO,  Yellow pants were solarized in for that "special" effect !  (Actually that was my scanner breaking about 5 years ago,  everything ended up streaking with yellow).

OK, so it was the beer upsetting my bladder and I couldn't wait,  sue me !   The Red Leb Hash kicked in when the flash went off and I sort've lost control :(

Umm.  Yes I was ?

:headscratch:

Kelley,  I think-
On the left top that's Bob Dylans hair you see, the poster you see directly behind me (above the Peter Max Blacklight poster) I think is Roger Daltry (The Who poster), I believe that would've been roughly the time of the "Who's Next" album release about 5 years earlier that poster was shot, might even be that same monument they are sitting near.

It's not too evident I was stoned and drunk off've my gourd is it ?  Must've been a day of final exams or something, (which is why I got all dressed up to meet my teacher and go to that class for the first time)   :dancin:   That was taken at Skidmore College, in a dorm room

It's Aliiiiive!!!!

Anyway now to get on topic and then right off topic. I don't sing in hopes of picking someone up because it ussually happens whether I want it to or not.. But I can tell you that I have put on about 20 lbs in the last couple of months and the guys are stating to complain that I am getting too heavy to pick up....LOL..

Steven.....WOW!!!!  You should have learned how to sing.. You are smoking HOT in that pic....  :D

Milo.. Have you tried that new almost makeup that Clinique has out.. It's got a hint of color and it is a sunblock that is not disgusting feeling.....

What else were we talking about???   OOOO Neil Diamond shirts!!!!  Murrlyn.. Run straight to your nearest Goodwill store I saw some at mine just the other day!!!
